Georges Starobinski is a pianist and a musicologist. His main concert activity consists in the accompaniment of lieder, with some chamber music on the side.
From 1987 to 1990 he coached singers and conducted orchestras at the opera houses of Lucerne and Basle. Since 2004, after working at the University of Geneva, he has been professor of musicology at Lausanne University, teaching as well at the Collège des Humanités of the Ecole polythechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), and the Conservatoire de musique de Lausanne (HEML).
